Highlights from ETHCC[8]: Yes, we Cannes
Last week, the Neon EVM team headed to Cannes where the global blockchain community gathered for ETHCC and the many side events organized around it - panels, networking drinks, beach festivals dedicated to Web3 projects, and much more.
Talks and workshops
During the main event, we were represented with one keynote talk and one workshop.
On July 2, at the Grant stage, our Head of Product Florian Muñoz delivered a keynote on the topic “Solana Native, Ethereum Familiar: Building without Barriers”. In it, he talked about overcoming the paradox of walled gardens and tribalism in crypto and blockchain, and showcased how EVM developers can easily deploy application on Solana and unlock access to new user bases and liquidity without the steep learning curve of Rust and Solana architecture.

Later that same day, our DevRel manager Julia Gallen took the Taylor stage to lead a workshop teaching developers how to trigger external logic beyond the EVM with Solidity contracts. Julia demonstrated the Neon EVM precompiles and libraries, and explored composability that extends EVM dApps to a new ecosystem using only EVM tools.

The Neon booth: Deep conversations & amazing swag
This year, we also had the pleasure to support the main event with a booth sponsorship. Our team was present at the booth to talk to existing and potential partners, showcase the Neon EVM product, and talk to developers, journalists and other conference attendees.
We had prepared treats for everyone who visited our booth and talked to us - we had an activation initiative where all booth visitors had the chance to grab some bright pink memorable swag (the swim shorts we had prepared were a crowd favourite together with the iridescent Neon-branded bags) or win a Ledger hardware wallet.
Side events and vibes
As usual, there were multiple side events going on along ETHCC. Some of the side events that stood our were Aave’s DeFi Day, MetaMask’s Builders Night, and Multichain Day. Our team enjoyed the extra opportunities to talk to builders, researchers and other participants in the space, and to spread the Neon gospel.
Overall, the vibes were impeccable. We witnessed interesting launches and had incredible conversations. ZK, DeFi, stablecoins and RWAs were dominating the narrative, with NFTs and gaming barely represented. We saw a shift from generalized tech to consumer-centric use cases, and were were part of many conversations about the intersection of AI and blockchain. The community also focused on privacy and clear regulatory frameworks.
All in all, ETHCC[8] was a great event, and we we are looking forward to the next edition of the conference that is also planned to take part in sunny Cannes. Au revoir!
